Secret of Santa Maria sopra Minerva

In the occasion of the Jubilee of the Dominicans (who celebrates in the 2016 the 800th anniversary of the founding of the Order) we will visit the church of Santa Maria sopra Minerva (the only example of Gothic art in Rome), full of extraordinary masterpieces, with a special permission, entering the convent, always closed to the public.

The cloister and the sacristy richly frescoed, the cell of St. Catherine of Siena – with the hidden masterpieces by Antoniazzo Romano (the Roman Botticelli!), the tumb of Beato Angelico, the Chapel of the Cardinal Carafa with the beautiful frescos by Filippino Lippi (opened only for us) are just a small part of all the artistic treasures of this convent!

After that, we’ll visit the square with the obelisk, Palazzo Santa Chiara – where St. Catherine of Siena lived in XIV century – and the Pantheon, concluding with the best coffee in Roma at Sant’Eustachio.
